Will someone explain how to invest in an index fund? - index of images01boobs

seems the best option is that low maintenance and offers a good performance. But I'm relatively new to investing, and I have no idea how to proceed in an index fund. Am I obligated to use online services such as Ameritrade, eTrade and TD or more. I am very new to all this such a informatioin would be useful.

The answer depends on the type of index fund that you want to buy. You think litterally hundreds of different kinds and create new every month.

Some fund companies to sell certain types of index funds. Vanguard really believe invented some years ago. The company currently sells several types of S & P 500 Index Fund, Growth Index Fund, Large Cap Index Fund, Total Market Index Fund, Value Index Fund REIT Index Fund, Developed Markets Index Fund, Emerging Markets Index Fund, European Stock Index Fund and probably others that I missed. There is only one company. You can buy from those with an investment of at least U.S. $ 3,000 to go this link.

When you openan account with a broker such as Scottrade, you will have access to Exchange Traded Funds Index - around 500 or less. The main difference is that you have to pay $ 7.00 here to buy or sell. Forefront you pay nothing. But I do not think that pay Vanguard charges an annual fee of $ 20 annually for accounts of less than 10k. Kind of defeats the purpose.

Here is a link to Scottrade

Here is a link for the exchange of all exchange-traded funds, which lacks both index and the index. Too bad he had to sort through them to decide what to buy.

Choose a good background does not load, then buy directly from the house mutual funds. Vanguard and T. Rowe Price is excellent. "Mutual Funds For Dummies" book is excellent seed money.
